help with ati driver: cant boot without nomodeset / conflict with kms

Hello.

I already searched but none of the solutions did work for me.
Here's my problem:

I'm running a fresh install of arch linux on my notebook and can't get my graphic card driver set up correctly.

Lspci lists my integrated amd/ati 4650/5165 as VGA device as supposed to.

Drivers are installed and up to date (open source ones including ati-dri)

I have to add nomodeset to kernel command line, else I can't even get to command line interface.

journalctl -p 3 tells me "[DRM:radeon_init] *ERROR* No UMS support in radeon module!

Xorg.0.log:

Screen 0 deleted because of no matching config section
UnloadModule: "radeon"
Device(s) detected but none matches those in the config file.
Fatal server error:
No screens found

I understand what's going on but not how to fix this.
Thanks in advance

Re: help with ati driver: cant boot without nomodeset / conflict with kms

please post the output of lspci, dmesg and mkinitcpio.conf
(dmesg output will be large, you should use a pastebin site for it)

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
