[SOLVED] "failed to mount" error during usb install

I recently installed Arch from a usb stick onto an old HP Pavilion laptop. At first, however, the installation environment wouldn't boot; after the main menu, I received the error

:: Mounting '/dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201401' to '/run/archiso/bootmnt'
...
...
...
ERROR; Failed to mount '/dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201401'

...which seems to be the same problem discussed here. The solution in my case was to run the command mount /dev/sdb /run/archiso/bootmnt (where /dev/sdb is the usb device name), then exit. Seems obvious in retrospect, but it took me a while to figure it out and my searches came up empty. Maybe by posting this here I can save someone a headache.

The other key step to getting Arch working on this particular laptop (which has intel integrated graphics) was to install the package xf86-video-intel; otherwise, it would freeze during boot.

Maybe you should mention the exact model? My HP laptop does not suffer from this issue. It has an HP Pavilion dv9000 mobo (it came as an compaq presario v6000).

Shoot you're right, I should've. I no longer have that laptop around but if I can get the model code I'll post it.
