When I try to run vainfo, I get some messages, then it hangs.
strace tells me it's waiting on a futex. Details below:

You have installed two wrappers. libva-vdpau-driver, which provides VA-API interface for VDPAU, and libvdpau-va-gl, which provides VDPAU interface for VA-API. Each tries to load the other.
