I'm having some annoyances with firefox 1.5-2 and my mouse cursor.
The main problem is that wherever I click on any webpage, a blinking mouse cursor appears. It doesn't matter if it is on text, an image, or whatever. It is always a cursor on the page somewhere and it won't let me just click on the page background to give it focus. This prevents me from using the arrow keys to scroll in a webpage because the arrow keys just move the cursor around. I am on a laptop so it would be nice to be able to use the arrow keys to scroll a page.
hope I made that clear enough. Does anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it? I have no idea if this is a new firefox 'feature', an arch issue, or an issue with my configuration.
And I also have this issue with the mouse theme changing (I use whiteglass). I did what was suggested by morpheus40 and now the theme stays the same but the pointer size changes when I move the mouse in and out of the firefox window. This is only a minor issue but if anyone knows what could be causing it please let me know.
Thank, any input is much appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, are there no replies because nobody knows what I'm talking about or because nobody knows of a solution?

All I can say is I haven't seen the problem, sorry. Perhaps you have some weird extension enabled that is causing it?

I figured it out. Under preferences -> advanced -> general, I had enabled 'allow text to be selected with the keyboard'.

heh. thanks allucid! I honestly had the same problem for a while and never bothered to ask, I thought it was this way for everyone. That's a really weird default if you ask me, not allowing people to use arrow keys or page up/down, etc..
