DMESG: perf samples too long

I notice sometimes when using certain applications in Wine I get the following in my DMESG report log.

[30220.951806] perf samples too long (2520 > 2500), lowering kernel.perf_event_max_sample_rate to 50100

The sound then proceeds to get crackily and then my computer hangs.  What would the reason be behind this?

Re: DMESG: perf samples too long

I don't know what it means or what it does, but it is referring to the file /proc/sys/kernel/perf_event_max_sample_rate.  So maybe if you googled in regard to that you might find your way.
