export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=kde &
Start OOo and you're off. (I think this will work.)

Unfortunately, it doesnt work, according google it seems that this export works only for oo 1.1.x ...

There's a big thread about making the OOo package from sources. But nobody cares
The feature is activated there. If our maintainer and TURs would have an eye on it it could soon be in testing! Most work is done :!:

Oh, thats great, thanks for telling me

KDE widgets in OOO2 have been working out of the box for me since beta 100-and-something. No environment variables exported at all. So, a recompile is certainly not necessary. Have a look at your environment variables.
On my setup `set |grep -i KDE' yields:
DESKTOP_SESSION=kde
GTK_RC_FILES=/etc/gtk/gtkrc:/data/jw/home/.gtkrc:/data/jw/home/.kde/share/config/gtkrc
KDEDIR=/opt/kde
KDEDIRS=/opt/kde:/usr
KDE_FULL_SESSION=true
KDE_MULTIHEAD=false
MANPATH=/usr/man:/usr/X11R6/man:/opt/java/jre/man:/opt/kde/man:/opt/qt/man
PATH=/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/opt/bin:/opt/java/jre/bin:/opt/kde/bin:/opt/mozilla/bin:/opt/qt/bin:/opt/skype:/opt/gnome/bin:/local/bin:/opt/gnome/bin:/local/bin
PKG_CONFIG_PATH=:/opt/kde/lib/pkgconfig:/opt/mozilla/lib/pkgconfig:/opt/qt/lib/pkgconfig
XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=/etc/xdg:/opt/kde/etc/xdg
XDG_DATA_DIRS=/usr/share:/opt/kde/share
I don't know what variable OOO2 looks at, but DESKTOP_SESSION and KDE_FULL_SESSION seem likely candidates.
I'm running kde 3.5.0 with lipstik style on the xorg 7.0 release from testing.
good luck.

these are not native kde widgets, it's rather gtk with gtk-qt engine, is it really possible to have OO use the native kde components like file chooser etc..?
Offline
Yes, it uses KDE widgets out of the box but I still can see that menu is different. It doesn't look like native KDE to me, it is bigger and not so smooth. Compare OO.o and Konsole:

only with looking at the scrollbar u can tell that open office has kde support , i dont think there is a better support that that (imho)

I looks virtually identical to me...I do notice that the OOo menu is just slightly taller, but nothing dramatic. I actually notice a bigger difference in the Kubuntu screenshots you posted, but that's just the font-weight. I'd say you've got it about as good as it will get...

look at the "open button".
In Arch its yellow.
the other version is blue like the standard crystal theme.

AHHHHH...I was merely looking at the text and the menus, not the icon integration. I'm a little slow

y'all need to google more
http://kde.openoffice.org/
http://kde.openoffice.org/kde-icons/index.html
apparently crystal icon support is not out of beta yet, nor are native kde dialogs. i'm guessing ubuntu ships with a patched ooo.

The only difference I see are the icons aswell. Try using the theme you used on kubuntu on arch to see if the menu's would look any different. I think not.
Direct link to the kubuntu openoffice.org2 deb package.

and the url with other openoffice.org2 files
http://apt.nc.hcc.edu.tw/pub/ubuntu/poo … fice.org2/
Now to find the source.
EDIT: sources and patches found.
Original source
http://apt.nc.hcc.edu.tw/pub/ubuntu/poo … rig.tar.gz
Patches
http://apt.nc.hcc.edu.tw/pub/ubuntu/poo … u3.diff.gz
http://apt.nc.hcc.edu.tw/pub/ubuntu/poo … buntu3.dsc
http://apt.nc.hcc.edu.tw/pub/ubuntu/poo … u4.diff.gz
http://apt.nc.hcc.edu.tw/pub/ubuntu/poo … buntu4.dsc
I think those .dsc files are only needed to make a debian package, but I'm not sure.
