[SOLVED] USB WLAN dongle fails with Linux 3.13

After upgrading to linux-3.13 the USB WLAN dongle (module: r8712u) failed to connect (link remains down as seen in dmesg):

[ 14.533194] forcedeth 0000:00:0a.0: irq 41 for MSI/MSI-X
[ 14.533228] forcedeth 0000:00:0a.0 enp0s10: MSI enabled

After downgrading to linux-3.12.9, the link started working again:

Re: [SOLVED] USB WLAN dongle fails with Linux 3.13

Not sure if it's related, but I do have one device that seems to keep giving me

hub 4-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 1. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
hub 4-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 1. Maybe the USB cable is bad?

Re: [SOLVED] USB WLAN dongle fails with Linux 3.13

Wait a minute what is this usbmux group?  Does my user need to be in usbmux?  It will do lsusb just fine, but in some cases won't do some functions of devices?  I would think storage would be one of them.  But I'm pmounting some devices ok.
This message is new:

Device libusb1-2:4: (EACCES) (-3 (-13), Access): Failed to open USB device. Please check your system's USB device permissions.

NVM, I had to open up the USB and finally got it working, so the fact that you got the device working by downgrading might be cause for a possible bug report.

Now, after some time, upgrading the system to latest packages the issue was resolved.
