[SOLVED] Network problem: Destination Port Unreachable

It seems that a recent upgrade broke my internet connection to some extent. The problem is quite peculiar. I can access google.com and yahoo.com, but apparently nothing else. When I try to ping other websites (say cnn.com) I get "Destination Port Unreachable".

I have tried many diagnostics. My DNS is working, and I can look up ip addresses fine. I can work with Google (search, gmail) but not much else. The router is fine, since other computers connect to the internet with no problems.

I am using NetworkManager for connection, but the issue seems to be still there if I disable it and manually configure the network (using dhcpd). The issue is there whether I connect to wired or wireless networks (and it is not related to a particular network.)

I have tried to roll-back NetworkManager and kernel with no luck.

I seem to be out of options ...

EDIT. After trying everything (and many hours of confusion), the problem seemed to be the rules in iptables. I don't quite know if I had put them there or someone else, or the upgrade. Flushing the tables using

 iptables -F

did the trick.
