I have Bumblebee installed on my Acer V3-771G. It works fine, and I can use optirun to get the accelerated graphics, etc. I read in the Wiki that as of October 2013, you can use JUST the nVidia card: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Optimus I would like to try that out, so I followed the instructions for "Using nVidia".
Bascially, I could get X to start, but it was NOT using the nVidia card, nor did it seem to be using the Intel card as Enlightenment said the software renderer was active. I set my xorg just like indicated, I had to uncomment the "UseDisplayDevice" "none" option, and I added the "AllowEmptyInitialConfiguration" "true" just in case. I still get the software rendered (or just a blank screen if I leave these options out).
I also:
+ disabled bumblebeed.service
+ disabled lightdm.service (used .xinitrc to handle xrandr settings, and startx to run Enlightenment)
I have only been at this about an hour, and I'm at work. So briefly what I'm asking is that are there any known instances where one CANNOT use the nVidia card as the "only" card and not use the Intel card at all, or am I just not hitting the right combination of xorg.conf and xrandr settings yet? (I will try to post an Xorg log after I get back from a meeting).
Thanks in advance.
