[SOLVED] touchpad actions stop when bluetooth mouse connect

Hi guys,

I'm having this issue after some upgrade I can't remember of. This wasn't happening before.

My elantech touchpad is set up to make use of tap to click, two fingers scrolling, two fingers tap, etc.
Now sometimes when bluetooth mouse connects to my laptop (right when I log in gnome), after some seconds those touchpad actions stop working. The touchpad itself still works but no tap to click nor two fingers scrolling... only normal click and move the pointer.

Any tips?

Thanks,
Condomitti.

Two things.  Anything of interest in dmesg or the journal?  Have you tried an environment besides Gnome?  I use i3 and Openbox and my touchpad behaves itself.  When I use Gnome, it applies its own configuration to my touch pad; by default, it turns off tap to click.  In Gnome, and Gnome only, I have to configure the touch pad with the Gnome configuration tool.

Re: [SOLVED] touchpad actions stop when bluetooth mouse connect

Hi ewaller,

Touchpach does work in Gnome! it always worked... it just loses tap to click  / two fingers scroll when the bluetooth mouse connects to computer. Touchpac still works (movement and normal click - not the tap one) but for some reason I can't get its actions without a reboot.

When grepping dmesg for synaptics/ mouse / touchpad / elantech / evdev I only get:

[ 2.383604] psmouse serio1: alps: Unknown ALPS touchpad: E7=10 00 64, EC=10 00 64
[ 2.879887] psmouse serio1: elantech: assuming hardware version 4 (with firmware version 0x575f03)
[ 2.894415] psmouse serio1: elantech: Synaptics capabilities query result 0x40, 0x14, 0x0d.

Does that say anything to you?
Sometime I saw evdev being reloaded but that didn't show this time...

Thanks,

Re: [SOLVED] touchpad actions stop when bluetooth mouse connect

Ok guys, just found the solution.
It wasn't related to bluetooth, but to psmouse driver for ALPS touchpad instead.  It's described in detail here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Touchpad_Synaptics ... you only need to download the patch from https://github.com/he1per/psmouse-dkms-alpsv7 and install it. smile

Cheers,
