Can't log in from TTY

I disabled GDM and rebooted.

When I boot I'm greeted with a CLI-log in as expected. However, when I enter my username I don't get the opportunity to enter my password. Instead the screen flashes and I get to enter my usetname again. This goes on forever.

What to do? I'm able to bring up a recovery console if that's needed.

Re: Can't log in from TTY

Try switching to another terminal with Alt-Ctrl-F2 or F7.

Re: Can't log in from TTY

Same thing occurs on every terminal.

Also, when entering my username 5 times, the screen goes conpletely blank with nothing but a flashing underscore. This, however, gets reset on every terminal but the firdt one when switching to another one and then back again.

Re: Can't log in from TTY

Try using a liveCD / liveUSB, chroot and enable GDM again.
Check the logs and systemd's journal for any clues what's going on.
