[SOLVED] SD card reader "unassigned class" after package update

Hi, usually the SD card reader would work and provide cards at /dev/mmcblk.. but after one of the more or less recent system updates (didn't use SD cards for a little bit, so I don't know whether it was exactly the last kernel update or not) it now no longer works. Instead, lspci says

04:00.0 Unassigned class [ff00]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTS5209 PCI Express Card Reader (rev 01)
04:00.1 SD Host controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTS5209 PCI Express Card Reader (rev 01)

Any ideas what broke this and if there's an easier fix than https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 8#p1251408 which says to build a custom kernel and compile downloaded driver source (not knowing whether that solution is even appropriate in this case)? After all it just did simply work in the past.

Never mind, it works again after a reboot. I don't know why.
