[SOLVED] Webcam not functioning after this mornings update

Hi, I'm a newb so please just ask me for any extra information you might need.

So this morning I upgraded everything with kalu, as I usually do. Pacman logs:

Didn't notice anything out of the ordinary during the process. Also missed the fact that kernel was updated and didn't reboot right after the update as I ususally do if kernel gets updated.

Now the problems start. Sqwiggle (an online video chat) doesn't work anymore. I try refreshing the page, restarting chromium and rebooting. Nothing helps. I don't remember doing anything special to get the webcam working initially, but I start googling 'arch webcam' and come by this wiki page. I identify my webcam to be using linux-uvc:

[deiwin@deiwin-arch ~]$ lsusb
...
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 04f2:b221 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd integrated camera
...

After that I do everything described in steps 3 and 4:

[deiwin@deiwin-arch ~]$ cat /etc/modules-load.d/webcam.conf
uvcvideo
[deiwin@deiwin-arch ~]$ dmesg | grep -A 4 -B 2 amera

video power users vboxusers kalu sudo
[deiwin@deiwin-arch ~]$ cat /etc/devfsd.conf
REGISTER video0 PERMISSIONS root.users 0660

I then installed guvcview. Running that I get the following log:

I've tried updating packages after that as well, but that doesn't seem to have helped:

[2014-04-10 11:47] [kalu] sysupgrade completed

Any ideas on what could be amiss?

And now it's working again.  Maybe one of the new updates fixed it:

Re: [SOLVED] Webcam not functioning after this mornings update

Why are you in the video and power groups? Being in these groups *can* cause problems, but this may not be the cause here, since the symptoms have disappeared. If the problem returns, it may be worth looking into.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Us … emd_groups

Sakura:-
Mobo: MSI MAG X570S TORPEDO MAX // Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X @4.9GHz // GFX: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT // RAM: 32GB (4x 8GB) Corsair DDR4 (@ 3000MHz) // Storage: 1x 3TB HDD, 6x 1TB SSD, 2x 120GB SSD, 1x 275GB M2 SSD

Making lemonade from lemons since 2015.

Re: [SOLVED] Webcam not functioning after this mornings update

I added myself to the video group trying to fix the issue. As described here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/We … ermissions I'm not sure about the power group. Thanks for the info.
