Hey,
I am using a realtkh r8169 driver for my realtek network chip, but since a few weeks ago my network suddenly stopped working. I was using windows, rebooted into Arch and no network anymore. The device was down according to dmesg.
I found the famous "# sudo ethtool -s enp9s0 autoneg off" fix, (as documented here http://adam.rosi-kessel.org/weblog/2008 … wn-problem) but was wondering why this suddenly happened and how I can permanently fix my network..
By the way, I have been using arch on my desktop for years now and no issue till now..

Have you given this a try (especially methods 3 & 5 documented there)?

Thanks for the reply, I have not yet, but will try tomorrow/day after.
However, I am thinking that the problem might be broader. I found an inconsistency in my setup, I used to have a switch between me and the university network. With switch my network works (tested it today), without it does not, therefore it might be an issue with the network that my university provides.
