Bricked USB?

I was doing some copying and it ended in some kind of I/O error. Since then the USB's light hasnt blinked ,but it is detected by lsusb :

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0c76:0005 JMTek, LLC. Transcend Flash disk

by dmesg | tail and I can see it in /dev as sdb, so its not totally dead , but it doesnt appear in #fdisk -l nor lsblk
When trying to use mount mkfs.vfat or fsck it says

No medium found while trying to open /dev/sdb

Re: Bricked USB?

Is this about trying to recover data or hardware? If you just want to use the flashdrive again I'd try zeroing it with dd first. It could also well be that your usb stick has just failed and that only the controller is still alive.
