Hi everyone!
With the risk of being flamed, this really should be a no brainer, but how do I search the forum?
It seems when ever I search the forum I'm presented with the entire thread containing the search criteria, not just the post containing it. Some of the threads are VERY long. Am I supposed to go through every post or is there a way to find the post containing my search criteria?
As an example, I tried finding posts containing "how to search the forum" and I'm presented with (in order at the time of writing)
[Poll] Which is your current bootloader? [ New posts ] [ 1 2 3 … 6 ]
Sticky: The Official Hello Everyone Thread by dolby [ 1 2 3 … 157 ]
dwb - a webkit web browser by portix [ New posts ] [ 1 2 3 … 84 ]
The little things that make you go "grrr" by Daenyth [ New posts ] [ 1 2 3 … 174 ]
My first bet would be "The Official Hello Everyone" thread, but that's like 157 pages! Is there a way to find the specific post containing my search criteria (is there even one)?
On other forums I've used the result will be a list of the specific posts, not just the entire thread, containing the search.
Please enlighten me, and I'll be able solve most of my questions on my own (if they've been answered here).
/Johan
PS If this has already been answered then I'm sorry, but the search result is confusing me

I use Google with the search phrase including the term site:bbs.archlinux.org

It's also a good idea to read stickies to get an introduction.

How exactly did you search the forum? Did you choose 'Show results as posts' from 'Select how to view search results' section (at the bottom of https://bbs.archlinux.org/search.php )?

Whoa, that's nice! how'd I miss that.
I do like being able to use ddg's !archlinux bang for searching the forum, but that defaults to thread view which I've always found to be as useless as the OP. I wonder if there is a way to use the ddg bang syntax and specify posts rather than threads.
(testing now... I'm currently striking out)

I guess you would have to submit a new one, this url should work for ddg:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/search.php?ac … rch=Submit
...or just bookmark this url and add a keyword for it:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/search.php?ac … rch=Submit

I'm surprised at the expressions of surprise from old-timers here

I never really used that search page - I just used google's site: option or ddg's !archlinux bang.

Karol, you are ruining the magic -- I had no idea how you were so fast at finding things

Why use the search function when you can rely on Karol?

Hmm... that really was a no-brainer. How on earth could I miss that one? (never mind )
Thanks for all the other tips. I've never taken the time to examine ddg but I notice now it has a lot of cool features.
Happy easter to you all.
