[WORKAROUND]Sound not working after upgrade to gnome 3.12

Hi guys,

I don't have a clue why, but after update my sound isn't working.

Re: [WORKAROUND]Sound not working after upgrade to gnome 3.12

Do you have more than one sound output device in the sound settings dialog? Try to change them around.

You can also check out alsamixer. It will only show you the pulseaudio mixer by default but you can change to the real hardware device with F6 and check if there are any muted channels, especially look for Master and PCM.

My sound settings dialog only shows me digital output. =/

In alsamixer, tried what you suggested, but all channels are fine =/

I had a problem with my sound today too. Try setting "Auto-mute" in alsamixer, from enabled to disabled.

Re: [WORKAROUND]Sound not working after upgrade to gnome 3.12

Does anyone else still have issues with this? I have had tons of issues ever since I upgraded to gnome 3.12 recently. Everything from the sound stopped working to the display manager somehow freezing with my webcam plugged in.

I have tried everything above and a lot more and I get no sound. I managed to get bluetooth working and got sound in my bluetooth headset.

My integrated card uses the following driver: snd_hda_intel (which I have later blacklisted), and my main sound card uses snd_oxygen. When all modules were loaded no output devices worked but I got sound via bluetooth.

Oh and I cannot find any auto-mute under alsamixer.

I still have man. Tried to format and install from scratch again with no good results. For me, it is only this issue... and it is annoying =/

EDIT:

Guys, I've tried to install mplayer and playback an audio file in another tty. I had no good result from this... I tried to use pavucontrol, but it seems that pulseaudio is using the right output.

Re: [WORKAROUND]Sound not working after upgrade to gnome 3.12

Hi Guys,

I found out a workaround. I'm not going to edit the post as solved because it isn't. The workaround that I've found is:

In settings > sounds it only displayed to me a digital output. It seems that pulse isn't recognizing the right output. With pavucontrol installed, I lauched it and choose, in Output device tab, my analogic output (that was signed as unplugged). After that, every sound plays  beautifully.

If after a reboot, pulse don't detect the device again, just repeat the pavucontrol step.
