Hi,
since kernel release 3.14 my backlight of the screen is flashing between dark and ligth in a ~500 ms interval. I don't know how to solve this issue. If I downgrade to kernel 3.18.8-1 everything works fine
I am using a Dell XPS 13 notebook if that information matters.

Hi RareYob,
unfotunately this is only a "me too"-post; I don't have any solution to offer.
I observe this kind of flashing since some days on my ThinkPad T440s. Before I have not recognized it, so I think it is caused by new kernel - or other new software. Flashing is visible mostly in the center of the screen if it displays areas of middle gray colour.
Ciao,

seems like the same problem lots of people are having here. Unfortunately it looks like the only solution that has worked so far is to downgrade the kernel.

I am using Dell XPS 13 and kernel 3.14.2-1-ARCH too. I boot with UEFI only(bios's options) and it works fine.
you can try to change boot mode to UEFI only or Legacy BIOS,that maybe can solve the problem.

Your solution worked for me! I disabled "Load Legacy Option Rom" in my BIOS and now my screen is not flashing anymore. Thank you!
