Hello guys,
I'm one of the unfortunate tortured souls who has AMD hardware and uses linux, specificially AMD Radeon 4650.
After updating to Gnome 3.12 and a new kernel version, I went through the seven layers of hell to get everything working again. I had to switch to Lightdm because GDM v3.12 no longer works with AMD drivers for some reason.
Anyway, what happens is this, I login, everything is working fine, I open programs normally. Then after some time (variant long/short), I can't open programs anymore. If I run anything from terminal, it complains about not being able to find X, and that the authority cookie is not valid!
WARNING **: Could not open X display
Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 keythe only content in my .xsession-erros is this warning:
** (gnome-session-check-accelerated:5428): WARNING **: Couldn't register with accessibility bus: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. If I restart Lightdm (and therefore X), everything works again.
Any ideas?
