Hello there.
I was asking myself whether I could install ArchLinux on my iMac Late 2013 and what method you would recommend.
The graphics card is a Nvidia GT755M, getting the drivers shouldn't be too difficult since proprietary Nvidia support has never been a problem Shall I use Bootcamp? My other problem is that this Machine has no CD drive and that I've no experience in installing any Linux distribution via USB. I've tried it on different machines about 50 times, but none of them was ever bootable. Also I couldn't find any information if ArchLinux is ready for a Late 2013 Mac, can you tell me what hardware will work and what will not?
Thank you in advance

If it is an Intel MAC it'll install like just the rest.
I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...
Look ma, no mouse.

Well it actually is.
And there's no risk about the hardware? I've experienced major hardware issues concerning Linux on modern Macs ...

I run my arch on a late 2013 iMac with almost no issues. If you dd (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/US … tion_Media) a small usb key, it will run. Try not to use boot camp (boot camp is now windows exclusive), boot into your recovery partition, manually shrink down your osX partition then boot into a gparted live USB or ubuntu live CD and create your ext4 partitions for your arch box. You can also use parted in the arch install iso if you prefer that/don't have an extra USB key lying around. You may have issues with sound that I have fixed (If you have any issues what so ever, feel free to email me and I'd be glad to show you what you need to do). Otherwise it's a very painless install, the ethernet works out of the box and the nvidia/nouveau drivers are both fine. Welcome to Arch!
