I get this message when tring to start e17 that I installed from the AUR
DYNAMIC DETERMINED PREFIX: /usr
enlightenment: symbol lookup error: enlightenment: undefined symbol: eet_data_descriptor2_new
Can anyone help? I would very much like to try the new Enlightenment.

I tried putting the repo into pacman.d/community and into pacman.conf...community directly, but pacman keeps telling me that e17-cvs does not exist in community. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I am still fairly new with Arch and pacman.

Don't put it into community. Edit your pacman.conf and at the end of the file, below the #[costum] line add this
#e-cvs packages
[fouiny_repo]
Server = http://elusseau.free.fr/arch/fouiny_repo/
Then do as root
pacman -Sy
pacman -S e-cvs
if you check http://elusseau.free.fr/arch/fouiny_repo/ you can see which packages are availible on this repro.
