[Solved] How do you add Arch Linux to windows bootloader

Hello today i decided to install windows 7 because i like to game and windows does a better job (at the moment) but i waned to dual boot because of course i don't want to leave arch linux! Well i went through the process of installing arch linux. Everything worked out well but how do i add an entry to windows boot loader so that i can boot into grub and load up my beloved arch linux? I have one more question does it matter that i installed arch linux on my other hard drive?

Partition scheme:
--/dev/sda--

/dev/sda1= Windows EFI
/dev/sda2= C drive

--/dev/sdb--

/dev/sda1= extra partition for windows for my games
/dev/sda2= boot partition (grub)
/dev/sda3= swap
/dev/sda4= root
/dev/sda5= home

Re: [Solved] How do you add Arch Linux to windows bootloader

I know nothing of Windows' boot loader - maybe someone here does, but this should really be posted on a Windows forum as Win is managing the boot loader.  If you used a linux bootloader managed from Archlinux, then we could help you set it up to chain load Windows (which I still think would be easiest).

I agree but sometimes antivirus programs mess grub up i may still try this but since i installed windows first wouldn't that making grub come up instead of windows bootloader very difficult?

Re: [Solved] How do you add Arch Linux to windows bootloader

If you've installed Windows in UEFI mode, you just need to install a linux-UEFI boot manager to your ESP and configure it. I would recommend gummiboot or refind, though GRUB2 can be used as a boot manager on UEFI systems too.

Why? You've already installed both systems, what benefit does starting from scratch have?

On a UEFI system, it doesn't matter which order you install your operating systems. Each boot manager has it's own directory on the ESP, and creates it's own entry in the motherboard's NVRAM.

Re: [Solved] How do you add Arch Linux to windows bootloader

Again, what benefit do you see in reinstalling?

If GRUB2 was installed as a UEFI boot manager, then it's entry should still be in your motherboard's NVRAM. You should be able to access it by using your motherboard's post-POST boot screen (usually accessed by pressing a key, e.g. F12 or Del).

You only need one ESP, but there's usually no harm in having multiple. If your GRUB entry doesn't work, then installing GRUB to your new ESP may be a solution to this problem.

The answer to that is on the exact same page WW already linked to.  Don't be a help vampire.
