[SOLVED] usb mouse not working sometimes after M/B change

I changed motherboard, prossesor and graphic card and kept the hard disks with the linux installation. Some times after I open my pc, the mouse is on but does not move. If I pull out the usb and put it in again it works. Any idea?
Thank you

Re: [SOLVED] usb mouse not working sometimes after M/B change

Hi,
Just a wild guess here, but it might be a  mouse hardware problem. Does the mouse behave the same on Windows or any other Linux installation ?

Re: [SOLVED] usb mouse not working sometimes after M/B change

The same mouse with previous motherboard was OK.
with
$lsusb
mouse is listed even if it is not working.
But with
$sudo cat /dev/input/mice

when it is not working it says No such file or directory.

What do you mean by that? Do you physically open the case? Some BIOS/UEFI motherboards have an intrusion detection feature. Or do you mean turning your pc on? Are there any power saving options for mouse? What mouse is it (vendor and product id)?

Re: [SOLVED] usb mouse not working sometimes after M/B change

I mean when I turn my pc on. It is Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse 1.0A. It works with windows, it always worked with arch but previous motherboard, processor and graphic card, but now not always. I see the light but cursor does not move.
As I said in previous post, I changed motherboard, processor and graphic card, kept all the rest and the hard disk with the linux installation.
Thank you

Re: [SOLVED] usb mouse not working sometimes after M/B change

There is a warning about PS/2 devices becoming modular. https://www.archlinux.org/news/linux-31 … w-modular/
Maybe recommendations there will work.

Re: [SOLVED] usb mouse not working sometimes after M/B change

Did you try different ports? Does the same occur with a live medium of say linux mint? Check its configuration if it does not. Search for similar dmesg messages.

Re: [SOLVED] usb mouse not working sometimes after M/B change

I enabled in bios "EHCI Hand-off" which was by default disabled and the usb mouse always works now without problems.
Thank you for replies!
