Cinnamon starting problem (fallback mode) ["SOLVED"]

Hello,

My cinnamon is "not starting" anymore after a long time since I did my last update.

I can start it normally by "startx", but then the fallback dialog appears and restarting cinnamon on 2d mode does nothing.
No menu bars or anything works, except that my background image was rendering before moving the configs files. Some startup programs are also launching.

I already moved my

~/.local/share/cinnamon
~/.cinnamon
/usr/share/cinnamon

but got no success.

My "Xorg.0.log" does not produce any related errors nor warnings.

Where can I find more log infos about cinnamon and what else can I do?
Sure I can completely remove and install it again, but I would like to try some other options first as I don't think this is the "right" way to do on linux.

My up-to-date system is using:

Linux: 3.14.4-1
Xorg-server: 1.15.1-1
Cinnamon: 2.2.8-1

BTW, My bumblebee and nvidia drivers are fine too, and I can use xfce4 normally.

Thanks,

EDIT: A little bit more description

Re: Cinnamon starting problem (fallback mode) ["SOLVED"]

I think that the problem is related with dconf.

When I kill (not by Ctrl-alt-backspace or logout) 'cinnamon-session' I see lots of errors output with something like

unable to create file '/run/user/1000/dconf/user': Permission denied. dconf will not work properly.

I tried, 'chown' the directory, but got nothing at all.

Creating a new user creates the directories all fine, but still the same error.

Maybe these are related:

Edit: typo
Edit2: added how dconf errors are seen

Is that chow or chown?

My bad, it is the usual chown.

Re: Cinnamon starting problem (fallback mode) ["SOLVED"]

One Problem is with 'dbus' and $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR. If the first login is not from the root account, $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR is set to 0 (root uid).

Then permissions errors with dconf gets all over place. The workaround is to login a normal user after root (this sets $XDG as the user id).

However, little progress is made by fixing this, except stopping the /run/user folder to be constantly accessed by cinnamon-settings-daemon.

Another problem that I've seen after stopping X is about the 'wacom-plugin'. I think this is my next step from here.

Re: Cinnamon starting problem (fallback mode) ["SOLVED"]

Today I started cinnamon again (after updating to the newest cinnamon on community) and after dismissing the fallback window,
I can access my gnome-terminal by my shortcut.

However, I do not get any window border, decoration, alt-tab, moveable windows like [1] and [2]. But, if I open muffin from a terminal, muffin loads and I can get Alt-tab and so on. But no panels yet.

If I do 'cinnamon --replace' from this terminal I get the following error:

[gabriel@sagerg ~]$ cinnamon --replace
JS LOG: About to start Cinnamon
Window manager warning: Trying to remove non-existent custom keybinding "magnifier-zoom-in".
Window manager warning: Trying to remove non-existent custom keybinding "magnifier-zoom-out".

And muffin does not starts again, until I call it from terminal.

Re: Cinnamon starting problem (fallback mode) ["SOLVED"]

Some days ago after an cinnamon update I got it working again. No older configs were tested, but everything is fine now.

Thanks,
