USB enumerate boot messages - Samsung Ativ book 9 plus

Hello everyone

I just got my new Samsung laptop:
http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/pcs/NP940X3G-K04US

So far I have installed Arch Linux in UEFI mode, removing windows 8 completely..

I am still not done setting everything up, and I am running into different problems that I am not able to fix or find help to anywhere.

When I was booting up from USB I got this messages:

usb 1-7: unable to read config index 0 descriptor/start: -71
usb 1-7: can't read configuration, error -71
hub 1-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 7

It would keep repeat the messages. I read that once the install was done the problem should go away, but is it still there and nothing external is connected to any USB port.

Can anyone help with this?

Re: USB enumerate boot messages - Samsung Ativ book 9 plus

There is not that much activity here..

I had some more time today to try fix the problem, I got some more data from dmesg that can be seen here:
http://pastebin.com/Cdh7W7fL

I also found this http://www.geekdevs.com/2010/04/solved- … -ehci_hcd/
I am not sure that it is wise to disable ehci_hcd, but I found in the comment that one had a problem whit his webcam that is loaded by both ehci_hcd and uhci_hcd and therefore is switching between connected and disconnected, I am not sure about what is going on with my problem so some tips or help would be great

UPDATE:

If I run

# modprobe -r xhci_hcd

then the messages stop

Okay, I dont know if anyone is following this thread, but I did some more testing and it turns out to be my touch screen that is causing the problem.

My touch screen is working, but it seems like there is a problem when the X has not yet been started, if I start my X then the error stops, but for some reason I cannot turn on my computer and then log in and run startx and make it go away, I have to either start X twice and it is working the second time, or log in and out as root first..

Hi SSTC,

Did you, or someone else manage to find a solution to this issue, which I also have?

Thanks

Re: USB enumerate boot messages - Samsung Ativ book 9 plus

$ dmesg -D

From: http://epocsquadron.com/setting-up-arch … ok-9-plus/

I don't know if it works. I'm just considering buying an Ativ Book 9 Plus and was researching problems I might have installing archlinux.

I know this is an old thread, but recent kernels seem to have fixed this issue. The laptop no longer presents the error. In fact, no errors show up during boot at all smile
