[SOLVED] Wrong TTY resolution on Radeon HD8330 (AMD A4-5000)

Hi All,

I just moved an existing Arch installation to a motherboard with Radeon graphics.
After installing xf86-video-ati, ati-dri and lib32-ati-dri, I'm pretty happy with the results except for how TTYs look.
I'm using

GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768x32
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep

and tried different resolutions, but I always get something that doesn't fit into the screen (Philips 1920x1080 which worked well with Nvidia graphics and proprietary driver).
I also tried setting

drm_kms_helper.edid_firmware=edid/1024x768.bin

as a kernel option (different resolutions here as well) to no avail.

Any idea?

Regards.
Antonio

It was not Arch Linux and not even computer related.
My monitor has options for specifying the type of device connected to each HDMI port.
The one I was using was identified as 'videogame console' and, once I changed it to 'computer' it started behaving correctly.
Probably, the Nvidia graphics card was simply handling this misconfiguration better.
