Mirrors can be ping'd, yet pacstrap doesn't work [SOLVED]

I've reached the stage of installation where I need to execute

pacstrap -i /mnt base base-devel

But all the mirrors are requested and throw the error "could not resolve host". However, i can ping the mirrors without error. This is not a one-off thing; I tried installing arch a few months back and the same thing happened; I gave up.
My mirrorlist was generated by the mirrorlist generator on the 1st of may. It is the mirrorlist that is shipped with the most recent arch.

I am running i686, I have also tried

pacman -SyU

and that can't resolve hosts either.
I would appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

I solved this myself by appending 'ipv6.disable=1' to the GRUB config.
