Added hub in USBinterface needs Udev rule

What rule can be applied in udev to allow a hub to be added to any USB interface without affecting the system selection process for USB devices?

Re: Added hub in USBinterface needs Udev rule

USB hubs are transparent as far as udev is concerned. Your udev rules should relate to your actual USB devices (disks, camera, whatever), and they will work whether the hub is used or not.

For example, I have these rules for my USB hard disk:

BUS=="usb", SYSFS{idProduct}=="8813", KERNEL=="sd?", NAME="%k", SYMLINK+="blaze"
BUS=="usb", SYSFS{idProduct}=="8813", KERNEL=="sd?[1-9]", NAME="%k", SYMLINK+="blaze%n"

and they work in both cases i.e. when I plug the disk into the hub, and when I plug it straight into the laptop.

Re: Added hub in USBinterface needs Udev rule

Tomk;

Googling I found the following regarding the hub and udev:

BUS=="usb", PLACE="2.3", NAME="mouse 1"

This addresses 2.3, the second hub and third port.

Perhaps there are hub-related udevrules?

You could be right - my reply was based on my experience so far.
