KDE Splash screen won't change

I installed the arch-artwork package, which includes 2 KDE splash screens.  I tarballed them and draged them to the menu as root and then as my user.  After that i chose the splash screen i wanted and hit apply.  I then rebooted and it reverted to the default blue splash screen.  Does anyone know how i can fix this?
