Whenever I try and turn on my laptop with a second monitor plugged in, I cannot get to the DE. With GNOME, I see the grey-ish background from GDM, but it freezes there. With Cinnamon, I see my wallpaper, but no task bar at the bottom. I am able to load a new terminal session and reboot, so it's not completely locked up, just X server I believe. I'm thinking it could have something to do with the free drivers, but the non-free do not work well with my GPU so I haven't tried that.
