Hi all,
I installed Arch Linux 0.7.1 Noodle on a laptop with a Orinoco pcmcia card. When I boot, I see the sit0, wifi0 and wlan0 interface, but I am unable to set a WEP key on the wlan0 interface. The error message is "Invalid argument" when I issue the "iwconfig wlan0 key 1234567890" command.
I saw following thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … oco+hostap however could not get it to work...
Any ideas?

Reinstalled Arch Linux 0.7.1, but now I do not even get the wlan0 and wifi0 interfaces, only a sit0 interface...
I have "MOD_AUTOLOAD="yes"" in rc.conf and also "hwd !hotplug pcmcia" among others in the DAEMONS array...
Any ideas what might be going wrong? This laptop is a Dell CPt333.

Besides it has not much to do with your problem, MOD_AUTOLOAD="yes" does already load your modules, so you should remove hwd from your DAEMONS array.
What modules does hwdetect load? ('hwdetect --show-modules')

Hmmm, 'fixed' it by using my Cisco Aironet card.
With the orinoco, I get a sit0, wifi0 and wlan0 interface. I cannot configure the wlan0 interface for WEP (I.e. I cannot configure a key on it).
With my Aironet, I immediately get an 'eth0' interface which works... The orinoco works in another laptop without problems...
