Hi all -
Currently my box is in my lounge next to the TV, which means I can easily access music and movies etc. However, my house is being ripped apart and renovated so while the floorboards are up I want to install a more elegant long-term solution. My requirements are to listen to music, view pictures, watch films, and possibly view RSS/newsfeeds through my TV. Obviously I'll need to set up a small home network with a server probably upstairs, but I'm unsure exactly what set up to have going between my server and outputting to the TV.
My brother recently set up some kind of media frontend on his xbox and uses that to get content from a server, and its quite impressive. I guess the other option is to get some kind of mini pc and use mms or myth as a frontend.
Does anyone have experience setting up either of these solutions - any thoughts, advice, or tips would be recommended. If it will be best to get a mini pc, hardware advice would also be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I recently built a myth box with their LC10M enclosure. Comes with irsensor and iMON remote which has LIRC support.
They have some really nice products but are little pricey.
wow - that enclosure does look nice, though. Can I ask what hardware you used with it? And how do you find myth as a frontend.... bearing in mind that I probably won't use it for TV but just movies and music.
Well, I use my mythbox as a frontend and backend... So the specs are little more than what you would need for just a frontend.
GIGABYTE GA-K8N Mobo
AMD 64 3200
1 Gb RAM
Seagate Barracuda 300Gb
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2
nvidia GeForce 6200
Myth is decent once you set it all up. The Music module needs some work but gets the job done.
But if your just going to use it for movies and music might be better off with something other than myth. Take a look at
I haven't used them but might be an alternative to myth.
