Fez starts from command line but not from Steam

When I try to start Fez from Steam, it opens a window, then crashes within a second. However, when I open it via command line, it runs fine. I've tried disabling steam overlay, steamworks, etc. in Steam and it still doesn't work. Based on some searching, I figured out it's something to do with audio source conflicts (or something like that?) but I couldn't find a solution that worked. Here's my error log file below. Pretty sparse, but it does seem to indicate that it crashes after the sound manager is initialized.

(13:08:11.690) [OpenAL] Context created
(13:08:11.692) [OpenAL] Available mono sources : 255
(13:08:11.698) [OpenAL] Sound manager initialized!

I've installed lib32-alsa-plugins and alsa-plugins, which fixed a similar problem I was having with Monaco, but it hasn't done anything for Fez.
