XOrg wont start on a Virtual box guest.

I have installed arch as a vbox guest on two different machines and neither will start X. It hangs on "Loading GLX"

The system is a very basic one with essentially nothing installed except X and the vbox guest modules.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Just tested ubuntu and it works fine so definitely not a host issue.

EDIT2: if i remove the guest modules then it works fine. So its something to do with those.

EDIT NUMBER 3: Ok so it seems that X is running but the screen is just not updating properly: http://i.imgur.com/99akpgS.png . It still responds to ACPI commands and stuff.
