celsestia, stellarium - mesa

Hi!

I installed Xorg 7.0 and mesa which didn't have before installed too.
I want to install Celestia and Stellarium:
stellarium conflicts with mesa. Remove mesa? [Y/n]

I press Yes and:

Proceed with upgrade? [Y/n] y

checking package integrity... done.
error: this will break the following dependencies:
  mesa: is required by xorg-clients
  mesa: is required by jasper
  mesa: is required by openexr
  mesa: is required by qt
  mesa: is required by vlc

On Xorg 6.8 I was without mesa and Celstia and Stelleraium works very good and vlc too...

Thanks in advance,

Mitja

For this, better submit a bug report if it hasn't been done already.
Meanwhile, you could use abs to rebuild these packages without the conflicts=(mesa) line.  That might work without any  additionnal modifications.

I am not familliar with abs yet...
I downloaded celestia and stellarium sources from their web site, use ./configure make make install and works faster than before and mesa is still on smile.

I've just check and there's already a bug report.
If you intend to stay with Arch, you might want to read on abs and makepkg:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ABS
It will give you a package that you'll be able to install with pacman instead of installing files directly in the system.

I uninstall Celestia and Stellarium because I installed in /ust/local, read your link and try abs and...Celestia and Stellarium work again smile
