X11 restart after 10 minutes of powerplug disconnect

I am facing this issue:
Every time I disconnect the laptop from the PSU, I get about 10 minutes of normal usage and then X11 restart and I get GDM to log back in.
In dmesg I get this:

Re: X11 restart after 10 minutes of powerplug disconnect

Does this laptop have a discrete GPU? If it does, I'd guess that the hardware is turning off the high performance GPU to save battery life, which causes X to crash. What's in your X log?

Re: X11 restart after 10 minutes of powerplug disconnect

Yes it does have an AMD discrete and integrated GPU. I am using the opensource driver. Can this be prevented?
