lo there,
i just loaded the opera package from arch current (maybe extra)
i cant seem to get the plugins to work. flash is good, but mplayer isn't working, neither is real.
i tried the PKGBUILD for the opera-mplayer-plugin in the aur, but it wouldnt compile, according to a thread here, i have to have gecko-sdk for it to install compile correctly, but it conflicts with firefox, i want to use opera, but dont want to throw out firefox.
tried the mozplugger from community, but it didnt work, even with the firefox mplayer-plugin, i tried including the mozilla-plugins folder in operas search path, but still no dice.
anyone have any luck with all o this ? i would sure appreciate the tips.
thanks all

I use opera with mozplugger and totem. I just comment out the MP_VIDEO_STREAM() lines in /etc/mozpluggerrc so totem is called instead of mplayer. Now, I don't watch a lot of streaming videos, mostly just movie trailers, but every video I've tried using this combo works perfectly. Also, make sure you have /opt/mozilla-plugins set up as a plugin path in opera, since that's where most plugin packages are installed.

Remove the path-to-gecko-sdk-configure-switch from that PKGBUILD from AUR and it'll compile.
Offline
ok the opera plugin compiled and installed ok, but didnt work, did it put the plugins in a different directory than /opt/opera/plugins? if so, maybe it will still work. the mozplugger still didnt work after commenting out the MP_VIDEO_STREAM() lines. That would be cool too, as i like using totem for stuff on my hard drive.
this is what i get from the terminal when i try to view something from the web in opera
Warning: XtRemoveGrab asked to remove a widget not on the list
flash seems to be working though.
thanks

I'm not sure, but it's very probable that mozplugger plugin resides in /opt/mozilla-plugins. Certainly opera-mplayerplugin sits in /usr/lib/opera/plugins. Make sure those are in your search path in opera's plugins settings.
Offline
well, all the plugins seem to be therein the settings area, but when i click on a link, it pops up the little box like its about to do something, but then doesnt, terminal window just shows the XtRemoveGrab error.
thanks

If you want my package to work. You need to download gecko-sdk and place it in /opt. After that it should work.
Arch - It's something refreshing
Offline
you mean, let me see if i get this right,
make a directory /opt/gecko-sdk
unpack the gecko-sdk package there
then rebuild the PKGBUILD and leave the line like it was ?

No no, gecko-sdk have it's own dir. Just do a 'tar -zxvf gecko-sdk.tar.gz -C /opt/' and it should work allright.

ok did that.
it all compiled, it installed, i still get the same error with everything.
but all the plugins seem to be there. They just give me an error.
Offline
What kinds of errors? Errors when you compiled it? Or errors when you try to install it?

no the compile goes fine, install goes fine, opera runs fine untill it ( i guess ) tries to load a plugin. then i get this in the terminal
Warning: XtRemoveGrab asked to remove a widget not on the list
thanks
ok theres more when i kill the browser it puts this extra stuff to the terminal

I also get
Warning: XtRemoveGrab asked to remove a widget not on the list
When I try to quit Opera, never noticed though.
When you run a movie, what do you get then?

Remove '/opt/mozilla-plugins' as plugin path, and it may solved the problem. But I'm not quite sure.

I followed this topic, too, here and got videos to work in Opera. Thanks! But there is one thing I am missing and this is the control panel I have in Firefox that allows me to toggle between fullscreen and window mode. How could I make that visible? Also the right-click doesn't work on movie window.
