[SOLVED] Installation on Fujitsu E754

Hi all,

I have a new laptop and I want to install Arch on it.

I install the iso file on a usb stick
I boot on it and I see the screen to choose the version. I choose x86_64 version.

After that, the screen is black and I don't see anything. The USB work correctly on other PC.

Processor Intel i5 - 4200M
SSD SATA 3 256Gb
Screen IPS full HD

Windows 8 pre-installed

I try also ubuntu and fedora. In all the case, after the grub loader, I have the black screen.

Any tips?

Thks

Re: [SOLVED] Installation on Fujitsu E754

Hi! I'm considering buying the same model and I can't find any compatibility info, so I don't know where else I could ask.

Does it work fine with Linux? Any hardware issues?
Are the fans running very often?
Is the laptop quiet or noisy?

Thank you!

The video card is listed in the specs: Intel HD 4600.

There's a very detailed review in German.

Re: [SOLVED] Installation on Fujitsu E754

There is the good and bad for this laptop (at my point of view):

- lightweight
- slim
- very quick (SSD inside)
- the fan don't run everytime
- good linux support

but:
- the keyboard is not good. Sometime, I need to push hard a key. Especially on the numpad
- the touchpad is too much sensitive. Sometime, if I just pass my hand over it, the mouse move or a click is emited

Touchpad, if synaptics, you can adjust several options in xorg.conf.d. Unless you may find front-end like kcm-touchpad for KDE and in gnome.

Re: [SOLVED] Installation on Fujitsu E754

Yes I know, but the problem came from the size of the touchpad. it's really big smile

Re: [SOLVED] Installation on Fujitsu E754

Thanks for the report and tips! I'll try to adjust (or disable?) the touchpad.
