I compiled my own 3.16rc2 kernel to test out the reclocking feature of nouveau (was able to get some decent performance gains) but for some reason I'm getting a bunch of spam during the boot process. I have my root partition encrypted with LUKS and before it even asks for my passphrase, my entire screen is filled with the spam. It looks like harmless messages about detecting my hardware but I get no such spam using the stock 3.15.1 kernel (or any previous stock Arch kernel.)
It looks like I get a few more messages of spam in with the normal boot messages and then when it prompts for my system login, it ends with a few lines of spam about my NIC going up and down. Then the spam stops and I'm able to use my system as normal. I just thought it was odd because I get none of these messages with the stock kernel and I'm using the same config (selecting only the new options with "make oldconfig") and the same mkinitcpio config.
My gut feeling is that it has something to do with a new config option UEVENT_HELPER but I tried compiling with it set to both no and yes with the same result. The reason I think so is that in the stock kernel, before it prompts for my LUKS passphrase, it says "Triggering Uevents" but no spam messages. It looks like they may have changed some behavior there with 3.16.
