I've been trying to get Steam to work the past couple of weeks with no success. When I try and run the program I get an error via CLI that says "unable to load driver: r600_dri.so" among other things. I read that the AUR package mesa-r300-r600-radeonsi-git might be needed, so I went ahead and installed that but the result is no different. Here is a full log of my errors.

I have the same problem. I am using a Radeon 6870, but steam cannot load the drivers. I have been trying to run XCom, without luck. Other games like Civilization 5 and Team Fortress run smoothly.

I'm thinking this has something to do with steam runtime and Arch's updated libs. I've searched around quite a bit and haven't figured out a fix for this.
tokoro, it looks like we have similar cards. I was hoping that the mesa-r300-r600-radeonsi-git package would work for me but it didn't do much. If you want to try it then heres the AUR link. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mesa … eonsi-git/

As many of you know, Steam on GNU/Linux is coming with some bundled libraries in case the system does not have them, and some of the bundled libraries or drivers are outdated. As a workaround, just delete the files Steam says are broken; this will force Steam to use the system's libs and drivers.
rm /home/devin/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1You might have to do this two times, each time representing a different lib.

You were right, thank you. I kept on deleting the lib files like you recommended and after about 3 more the errors stopped. Hopefully games will run just fine!
