Steam: OpenGL GLX context is not using direct rendering
I have installed steam and when I start it, I get that error. I am using the nouveau drivers for graphics. I have a nvidia GeForce 765M graphics card.
I have tried for ages to try to get it working, but none of the solutions worked for me. I (think) I have all of the required 32 bit libraries installed also.

You have lib32-mesa and lib32-mesa-libgl installed?
Can you not use the proprietary driver?
