Wargame: EE, AB or RD on Radeon open source driver

Was any of you guys able to play Wargame: AirLand Battle, European Escalation or Red Dragon on Radeon open source driver? Please let me know if you had any success with any of these games. For me AB and EA start but the system hangs after I start a campaign. I haven't tried RD though. I have Radeon 7870 (Gallium3D, Glamor). I can play other games, e.g. Portal 2 or Civ V.

Can you play the game at all past the menu? Skirmishes, multiplayer matches? For me, even if I just open the armory my game freezes.

I posted a thread on their forums but never got a solution. I think my DRI_PRIME configuration is faulty though . . . doesn't seem to actually work with anything except glxgears and glxinfo. On the Unigine Valley demo, if I use DRI_PRIME the performance remains poor but the graphics actually render. For all the Steam games I've tried so far, DRI_PRIME either doesn't do anything or crashes the game. And running Steam with DRI_PRIME crashes Steam (are you supposed to do that, by the way?). So I think in my case it might be a problem with my Intel drivers, since an HD 4000, surprisingly, meets the minimum Linux requirements. I can also run all my other games, like Civ V and XCOM, on the integrated. Do you have a laptop or use hybrid graphics?

Just to be clear, I didn't go past the menu either.

Can you please provide a link for reference?

Radeon 7870 is a desktop card.

Here's the thread.

Maybe it's a problem with Wargame then after all. As I mentioned in the thread, I performed a fresh install and the issues persisted. You get good 3D performance from your other games, right?

Re: Wargame: EE, AB or RD on Radeon open source driver

I tried Red Dragon on a fresh install on my desktop and it worked fine. There is one minor issue though . . . you can see past vehicles through their windows in the armory. It seems to only affect helicopters, but does anyone have any insight into this problem?

Also, I managed to get the hybrid graphics working on my laptop, and the windows render the same way.

For reference, my desktop uses an older card. It's probably an HD 5700 but it might be an HD 4850. And my laptop graphics are Intel HD 4000 and 7670M.

I would recommend you try playing Red Dragon on a fresh install of Arch and see if that works.

Re: Wargame: EE, AB or RD on Radeon open source driver

I was able to play Wargame AB on my archlinux intel graphic months ago. But since earlier this month, the game is always frozen at game loading screen.

And when I was trying to auto-config video settings, the game frozen too. So I believe this is a video bug, and may be related to new kernel... ?
