Is forum best place to comment on AUR problems? Have been checking the comments in AUR nobody mentioning the problem above. Is anyone else having the same problem as me or perhaps knows how to get around it or does the package build need some fixing?

Maybe nobody has tried to build it yet?
Please do post in the comments on https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/compiz-core-devel/
You can fix the PKGBUILD yourself.
$ sha256sum compiz-0.9.11.tar.gz 3c5e4c71c15118021e4402fe6277cf8972a3be5dea524a4713e893f4efbe4e74 compiz-0.9.11.tar.gz
Amended the checksum in packaage build file and integrity check passed.
Build went on to complete successfully.
