When I connect my Motorola Moto G, nothing happens. I looked at this page: http://blog.tausys.de/2014/01/31/linux- … oto-g-mtp/ and copied the udev rule (but to /etc instead of /lib) and ok, the libmtp entry shows up in /dev but what do I do then? Maybe there's an easier way to transfer files between my Arch laptop and my phone?

When I bought my Moto E, it read some stuff and installed all of gvfs-gphoto2, gvfs-mtp, libmtp and mtpfs. I don't know which one did the trick, but one of them must have beeni t! :-)

I would not touch mtp, in KDE and Arch it often stops with error. Try AirDroid. I think it is much better than trying to connect smartphone to a computer using "computer" tools like mtp, kio-mtp and so on.
