Arch Linux with Steam big picture as default desktop

Is it possible to setup Arch linux similar to Steam OS? I like both of the OSes but I want the bleeding edge of Arch while having the big picture mode at startup as the system will be used for pure gaming, I will have a browser but not for anything major.

After downloading the steam client, it has an option under options->interface to have it start in big picture mode, then add it to your xinitrc. You could also use a simple window manager for when you're outside of big picture mode, I've been using i3 with steam for a few months now and it works great.

Edit: Also as always take a look at the wiki for Steam and Steam Games, since you may run into some kind of issue along the way.

How about using the following file:

/usr/share/xsessions/steam-big-picture.desktop

[Desktop Entry]
Name=Steam Big Picture Mode
Comment=Start Steam in Big Picture Mode
Exec='/usr/bin/steam -bigpicture'
TryExec='/usr/bin/steam -bigpicture'
Icon=
Type=Application

It works with most major Display Managers.
