Instant wakeup right after suspend/hibernate on low battery

Well, I've been struggling with these problems for a whole week and unsatisfied with the results I'll ask for some opinions.

The situation is as follows:
I can easily suspend/hibernate Arch manually whenever I want without issues.
The problem comes when anything makes it suspend/hibernate on low battery: disks slow down, wlan interfaces shut down and screen goes black as if it were about to sleep correctly BUT then it immediately wakes up.

What I've tried so far:

  • Change what triggers low battery event: udev, acpid, cinnamon, polling daemon.

  • Change sleep mode: suspend, hibernate, hybrid-sleep.

  • Unloading wakeup modules when sleeping via /usr/lib/systemd/system-sleep/: ehci_pci, ehci_hcd, xhci_hcd.

Nothing worked

Did anyone manage to fix this properly or have any clue? It's driving me mad...

maybe it has something to do with your bios...
I think asus laptop have something like that, but to shutdown PC when it is suspended and have low battery

Do you have Wake on LAN enabled?  The linked article tells you how to enable it.  You should be able to extrapolate how do disable WOL from that article.

Thanks for your answers.

The only related BIOS options I've seen are "Poweroff energy save" and "Wake on lid open". No idea if the former may cause any issue when sleeping, the latter seems worrying but it doesn't make sense since it hibernates correctly by manual command even with the lid open.

Regarding WOL, I have TLP enabled and ethtool installed, so theorically it's disabled. Furthermore, /proc/acpi/wakeup says only EHCx, XHCx and the sleep and power buttons are able to wake the system up. As I said before, disabling ehci and xhci modules didn't work so far.

I'll keep investigating. If you have any idea it'll be apreciated.

I haven't tried it yet with the new kernel releases since no one seemed to follow the issue, can you confirm it's still present using the live versions of Linux kernel, power tools and Cinnamon?

I want to confirm that this issue has been driving me crazy since I have bought my new Lenovo y50-70 laptop. I'm seeing the exact same symptoms as the topic starter. Does anybody have any idea on how this can be fixed or, at least, profiled?

Did you ever get this fixed? I still have this issue with the latest kernel on a lenovo y580.

A lot has changed in 4 years, please open your own threads containing up to date details on your setup. Also include information on which environment (power managers, DE) you are using.
