Install the oxygen-icons package. No, you don't need to install KF5 manually, they are libraries and they will be installed as dependencies of the applications that need them.

Thanks!

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Hi there!!
I can't solve the problem with qt4 apps under kf5..I had a fresh kf5 install with some kde4 base apps (konsole rekonq dolphin) which look with gtk style..
I tried everything possible, installing breeze-kde4 and removing/overwriting kdeglobals file but nothing changes..
What can I do to solve this?

Thanks

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Anyone else having issues with sni-qt? It's installed, but doesn't work. I'm thinking it might be an issue with paths, as sni-is installed as /usr/lib/qt4/plugins/systemtrayicon/libsni-qt.so. Any way to check if Qt4 actually recognised it? I remember Qt4 having issues recognising Oxygen stlye out of KDE4, maybe it's the same thing here.

What do you mean exactly by "doesn't work"? It does work for me, clementine shows its tray icon.

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Doesn't work as in: no tray icons for Skype, Clementine and few other programs that still use old-style tray.

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Ofcourse, wether system is fully upgraded is the first thing to check. I even restarted session a couple of times just to make sure. There must be something that I'm missing. Will make a test account and check if it works there.

EDIT:nope, doesn't work even on a clean user.

OOPS: It does work on a clean user, actually, shouldn't have used Skype to test. Clementine works.

Now, since Skype is a 32bit app, I'm guessing lib32-sni-qt is what's missing most likely, or something like that.

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

Hi, yes, what it's needed is a 32bits version of sni-qt. Thats the way it works on kubuntu.

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

There is no lib32-sni-qt package, even on AUR. There is only one package called sni-qt on extra and it doesn't work, I still can't see tray icons for skype and wicd-gtk.

sni-qt is a plugin for qt4, so of course it doesn't work with gtk applications. And skype is a 32bit app, so it needs a 32bit version of the plugin as Xabre said.

Because no one has made it yet. That's easy to solve...

Edit: I guess the lib32-qt package in [multilib] also needs to be patched, for that you should open a request in the bug tracker

Ok, hope someone uploads it. What do you suggest for gtk apps like wicd-gtk?

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

I'm using statusnotifier for GTK apps and so far it's working well. For example, Psensor.

As for lib32-sni-qt, I tried building it myself, though had little luck. I still find making lib32 PKGBUILDS to be a bit puzzling for me.
It will also require lib32-libdbusmenu-qt, so if anyone has any attempts of making those PKGBUILDS, I'd be glad to test and provide feedback. smile

Re: KF 5 & Plasma

AFAIK, statusnotifier just enables showing try icons for apps that already have appindicator support. Psensor has it, but stock Pidgin, for example, doesn't.

Remove packagekit-qt or build in a clean chroot

It's a cmake dependency as I know from the people of #plasma.
