Hi,
I've also switched to 5.2 and was able to resolve all my -minor- issues. However, I ran into an issue with steam.
I can set a starter in the docker/icon bar and start all needed programs per starter (dolphin, kontact, teamspeak, konsole, firefox, calibre) except - steam.
The starter doesn't do anything, the startmenu entry doesn't do anything and the desktop shortcut doesn't do anything. Installing and reinstalling doesn't help either.
Starting konsole and running steam per commandline works though. So steam seems not to be the problem - itself -.
Have others had this bug? Any ideas?
Ty

Hi all, I've noticed that on last version of dolphin, I can't see the video preview on the information panel... When I click on the start button nothing gonna happen... I can't figure out if it's a problem of dolphin or if I miss something?

Hi guys, I have a few VM's around and I tried Plasma 5 (with the "plasma" package) but it is...very empty... What else I should install? Thanks to the recent changes in the Arch Wiki I'm confused: we have "kde" which seems to be the whole KDE4, "kdebase-workspace" which is the minimal install of KDE4 and "plasma" which is KDE5 in theory. What to install then? KDE 4 and 5 just can't be happy together.
Thanks in advance.

Dolphin has nothing to do with kf5 or plasma, so you should open a new thread about this

Looks like it's better to be on KDE4 for now or to change the desktop. I wonder one last thing: What will happen if I continue to use "kde" package? I think that the system won't force me to use Plasma 5.

Anyone here using Firetray with Thunderbird? Can't get the tray icon back with Plasma5.
Overall it is looking very good. But I have some crashes once in a while...

It seems that thunderbird with firetray and new plasma 5 panel is a pain at the moment. I have chrashes very often. For now I just disabled it and having thunderbird open in task manager as a window.

Thanks, deactivated it as well.

Is it possible to disable the auto detection of an external monitor?
Previously it could be disabled in the background services settings, but i cant find it in kde5.

One think I'm missing a lot: is there an easy way to disable compositing? In KDE4 there was an alt+shift+f12 shortcut, but can't seem to find anything about it here. Not that compositing works bad, it's just that hybrid graphics + PRIME has that glitch when using glx based compositor, In kde4 I'd disable kde compositing via shortcut, start xcompmgr and then use PRIME.

@XABRE works here, check in hotkeys if it has been set to something different for whatever reason

Thanks, V1del, will look into it.

4) Dolphin keeps losing every link I put as a shortcut on the left panel. It only remembers not to show what is hidden.
Links may stay there for some time, even after a reboot. They also have a mind of their own.
I've installed dolphin-frameworks-git from AUR (with 20-30 dependencies it has) and it doesn't have that issue.
Does anyone else have issues with keyboard shortcuts in applications?
Reassigning paste or paste selection shortcut in konsole gets lost after restarting konsole.
kate and kwrite have issues with copy, paste, ctrl+left/right, home, end and most other text navigation shortcuts.
Have filed bug report for konsole but haven't seen anyone mentioning similar issues anywhere and those seem really annoying to me.

Lucky you. At least it lasts until you restart it. It loses mine if I switch to another application and back...
CLI Paste | How To Ask Questions
Arch Linux | x86_64 | GPT | EFI boot | refind | stub loader | systemd | LVM2 on LUKS

Yes I can confirm that behavior, I assigned different shortcuts for switching tabs. Funny thing is, unless I set the alternative shortcut, the primary shortcut is kept. If I set alternative shortcut as well, both are erased after closing konsole.
It seems, keyboard shortcuts are bugged all around plasma so far. I am using two keyboard layouts (us + sk), if us is first in the list of layouts, than meta+space shortcut for switching kbd layout doesn't work. It switches from us->sk, but not the other way around. The fix seems to be to set sk first in the list of layouts, then meta+space switches both ways. Unfortunately then some other shortcuts break, for instance kwin switch windows of same app (alt+`), doesn't matter which keyboard layout I use. I'm going to see if there is a bug report for these and post one if there isn't, though it's not clear to me, which component is actually affected.
Also, can anyone confirm kwin crashing, when switching monitors ? I use laptop connected to external monitor. If I boot up with external monitor, kscreen correctly disables internal monitor, but plasma crashes on startup as well as krunner. But If I unplug the exernal monitor, kscreen switches to internal monitor and at that point usually plasma along with everything Qt5 crashes and often kwin crashes as well. Sometimes relaunching kwin does not even help, journal reports X11 connection broke and I have to kill X server. Also no crash dialog for kwin is shown, so I can't get a backtrace.

have you problems with some applications and system tray?
Programs such as transmission, hp printer management, smplayer don't go in system tray when i close it.

Plasma 5 uses a new specification to display items in the 'system tray' area called Status Notifier. To allow applications using the old xembed specification to display items the packages (gtk-2)libappindicator-gtk2, (gtk-3)libappindicator-gtk3 or (qt4)sni-qt, lib32-sni-qt(for 32bit based applications like Skype) may be required. See "Where are my systray icons?" for more information. "
i installed this packages, but nothing is changed.

Have you had problems with plasmoids? For example the fifteen puzzle plasmoid looks cramped and I cannot resize it. Also, I find it a joke that it is not always visible when on a desktop, but acts like a button that has to be pressed to show the game.
Hardware: 2016 Dell XPS15 - matte FullHD - i5-6300HQ - 32GB DDR4 - Nvidia GTX960M - Samsung 840EVO 250GB SSD - 56Wh

I have some problems with kdeconnect. I am on plasma 5.2 (plasmashell 5.2.0 - official repos) and compiled kdeconnect-frameworks-git from AUR. (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/kdec … works-git/)
Paring, notifications, Ping, mouse-control and mediaplayer-control works like a charm.
Buts I cannot mount the storage of my phone (and the ouya) over sshfs anymore (yes sshfs is installed). Also sharing files with the PC over KDEconnect does not work. It can send a file, my PC seems to get something - but the result is an empty file with no metainformation.

pacman -Qs appindicator
local/lib32-sni-qt 0.2.6-5
A Qt plugin which turns all QSystemTrayIcon into StatusNotifierItems (appindicators) (32-bit)
local/libappindicator-gtk2 12.10.0-4
Allow applications to export a menu into the Unity Menu bar
local/libappindicator-gtk3 12.10.0-4
Allow applications to export a menu into the Unity Menu bar
local/libappindicator-sharp 12.10.0-4
Allow applications to export a menu into the Unity Menu bar
local/pidgin-appindicator 0.8-1
Pidgin plugin that adds tray icon using libappindicator
local/sni-qt 0.2.6-3
Qt4 plugin which turns all QSystemTrayIcon into StatusNotifierItems (appindicators)
I have performed a logout/login but nothing.
