My first Package - gnuradio-opt-git - 'provides'

Hi,
i released my first package gnuradio-opt-git. It is a fork of gnuradio-git with install Gnuradio to '/opt'. So you can install GnuRadio and GnuRadio-git parallel. Should i leave provides=('gnuradio') in the PKGBUILD? Or should i adapt it to provides=('gnuradio=3.7.4') like the wiki describe it?

I'm in favor of always using a versioned 'provides'. Simply "gnuradio=$pkgver" is usually the way to go, assuming you get rid of the "v" in front of the version number.

The question, though, is does this actually provide gnuradio? If some other software uses gnuradio, does having only this installed work?

gqrx need gnuradio but it doesn't work with gnuradio(-opt)-git. If i compile gqrx myself it works fine. I think it's better to remove the "provides". But this is also a bug in gnuradio-git?
The error message from gqrx with just gnuradio(-opt)-git installed;

gqrx: error while loading shared libraries: libgnuradio-analog-3.7.4.so.0.0.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

So they actually change the library name on each micro version change? Wow, that's insane. Not sure what the way to handle this would be.

3.7.5git vs 3.7.4. I think the simplest solution is to remove provides or have you a better idea?

The thing is that the "provides" would work for building from source, but not work for binary packages. Pacman doesn't have anything to cover this situation. If it was a soname difference, that's one thing as it only gets bumped occasionally when there's an ABI break, but this is totally different lib names. I have no suggestion.

What's the difference between the AUR package (is it just the latest source?) and the community packages, please?

The AUR package use the latest source and have more features, depending on the packages on the system, QT widgets and instruments for example.  The community package are compiled without this optional features.
