[solved] How to start a working 2nd X-Server after the X.org update?

Sorry if this in the wrong section, I'm really not exactly sure where to put this.

What I did and what worked before:
Change virtual console via Ctrl+Alt+F2, login as a different user, type

xinit `which startxfce4` -- :1

and bang, I had a working secondary X-Server running XFCE4.

But today, the X.org update came with this message:

>>> xorg-server has now the ability to run without root rights with
the help of systemd-logind. xserver will fail to run if not launched
from the same virtual terminal as was used to log in.
Without root rights, log files will be in ~/.local/share/xorg/ directory.

Old behavior can be restored through Xorg.wrap config file.
See Xorg.wrap man page (man xorg.wrap).

That didn't sound good for my purpose and it wasn't.
When I did the exact same things as before, the secondary X-Server started, but I got no input reaction (mouse, keyboard) except from Alt+Print+K which I can at least use to kill that secondary X-Server.

I tried to understand the output of man xorg.wrap in order to restore the old behaviour, and so I did:
/etc/X11/Xwrapper.config:

needs_root_rights = yes

After a reboot, the problem stayed: When I try to start the secondary X-Server, it doesn't get any input.

Other observations:

xinit /usr/bin/startxfce4 -- :1

doesn't even start the X-Server in contrast to

xinit `which startxfce4` -- :1

, whyever. The error output is:

xinit: connection to x server lost.

When running

xinit `which startxfce4` -- :1

the first error messages are:

/usr/bin/startxfce4: X server already running on display :1
gpg-agent [PID]: a gpg-agent is already running, another one isn't started
unable to find device 'Logitech USB-PS/2 optical mouse'

So how can I start a secondary X server correctly now?

Re: [solved] How to start a working 2nd X-Server after the X.org update?

OK, got it.

It is necessary now to force it to stay on the same virtual console.
So if you changed with Ctrl+Alt+F2, just enter

xinit `which startxfce4` -- :1 vt2

where vt2 forces to stay on that virtual console.

PS:

xinit /usr/bin/startxfce4 -- :1 vt2

doesn't work. Same output, but the later one then states "xinit: connection to x server lost." If you know why, you could let me know, I would be interested in. I thought that should be equivalent to the which variant.

Re: [solved] How to start a working 2nd X-Server after the X.org update?

The same question. I need to run a program on a separate X server. I used  "xinit /path/to/program -- :1" before but it no longer works sad

Re: [solved] How to start a working 2nd X-Server after the X.org update?

I created /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config file with a content

       allowed_users = anybody

but it still doesn't work.

Re: [solved] How to start a working 2nd X-Server after the X.org update?

See post #3, the vt argument is important. The number after vt has to be the number of the virtual terminal (tty) you are on.
(So for #4: xinit /path/to/program -- :1 vt1  if you're on tty1.)

You can automatically set it by vt$XDG_VTNR
(Test it: $ echo $XDG_VTNR)

Another, even easier possibility is having a working .xinitrc file, then just $ startx works! :-D

I tried this and got:

I have .xinitrc, it is used for running window manager. I use xdm to login and then it stats fluxbox.
Startx command says the same error as xinit.

BTW, before update it was possible to switch to raw console with Ctrl+Alt+F1, but now it stopped to work.

Re: [solved] How to start a working 2nd X-Server after the X.org update?

Hm.

Fatal server error:
(EE) xf86OpenConsole: VT_ACTIVATE failed: Operation not permitted

indicates, that there really is a problem with the vt (virtual terminal).
But in this case, I really don't know, what the problem is, sorry.
